Welcome Speech - Mayor, Oh Se-Hoon
Hello, I'm Seoul mayor, Oh Se-hoon. I would like to express my gratitude and welcome to domestic and overseas speakers who are participating in Seoul Design International Forum 2022 and the citizens who are watching online.
I have emphasized the competitiveness of Seoul and the value of design. Design has constantly expanded its value and role, creating not only tangible results but also intangible services and now design has become a key tool to drive the happiness of citizens and the competitiveness of cities.
Currently, the Seoul Metropolitan Government seeks to develop Seoul in tune a high-quality emotional cultural city and a special city with companionship charm.
We are promoting a life-friendly emotional design city policy that accompanies the underprivileged and improves the quality of life of our citizens.
We are trying to take Seoul to the next level with a design that everyone can feel while caring for the daily lives of citizens.
Furthermore, we will do our utmost to turn Seoul into a design industry city and design landscape city in order to create an attractive and competitive global city where people around the world want to live to visit and invest.
This forum will be held on how does design enrich our future. And we will be sharing insights on how citizens enjoy design and how design combined with welfare, culture, and transportation affects our citizens’ lives and the future society.
I hope everyone participating will have a meaningful time to think about and discuss the role of design, a key strategy of our future society.
