How about a run after work? The Runner's Station inside Yeouinaru Station, a hot place for runners, is now open!

Hello!

This is Seoballgeum, the supporter for the 2024 Seoul Design International Forum!

Running has really become super popular lately!

TV shows have been covering running crews in a fun way,

and since running doesn't require much—just simple workout clothes—

it's an easy and convenient exercise for a lot of people.

It’s definitely becoming a go-to activity for many these days!

So, have you heard about the 2024 Seoul Design International Forum happening this month?

It’s an annual forum held by the city of Seoul, which has been continuously designing the present and future of the city through citizen-focused design policies to improve the quality of life for everyone.

This year marks its 5th edition!

Now, the topic I’ve been researching today is about the "Funstation" project,

specifically the first of its kind, the "Runner Station" at Yeouinaru Station.

This station opened on May 21st, and the project has been designed with input from running experts

and running crews right from the planning stages.

The goal is to make the space as convenient and accessible as possible, making it a standout part of the Funstation initiative!

Since I started running lightly along the stream in my neighborhood this summer as a beginner,

I just couldn’t resist checking it out!

So today, I want to introduce you to a space designed for runners at Yeouinaru Station—

"Runner Station"!

It’s said that the Runner Station at Yeouinaru Station was set up by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, making use of some of the station's space.

The station has been created in two locations:

one at the underground first-floor ticket gate and the other on the ground floor above.

As soon as I got off at Yeouinaru Station on Line 5,

I felt like something was different from the usual subway stations.

It had this cool, unique vibe, more like a gym than a subway station,

with black and neon colors catching my eyes.

When I took the escalator up, I overheard people around me commenting on how the station felt like a gallery

instead of a typical subway, and I couldn't help but get caught up in the excitement.

Even though the weather was a bit chilly, I started to think,

"Maybe I should go for a run while I'm here..." It just gave me this weirdly good energy!

On the basement level of Yeouinaru Station, near the ticket gates,

there's a space called "RUNNERS BASE CAMP," which has four dedicated areas for runners:

a powder room, nursing room, changing room, and storage lockers.

After a run, when you're sweaty and might be heading to the subway, these facilities are a huge plus.

It was great that everything is set up to help runners feel comfortable,

especially since you don’t have to worry about cleanliness or hygiene, as can often be the case with regular public restrooms.

I personally stopped by the powder room to check my appearance and also went into the changing room.

I was really impressed by how clean and well-maintained everything was.

When you think about changing after a run at a subway station,

usually the first thing that comes to mind is the restroom, which isn't always the most hygienic option.

But this place was so pleasant and well-organized, it really made the experience much better!

Next, I headed into the Base Camp right next door.

Inside, there are two treadmills, a body composition analyzer (InBody), and a shoe sanitizing machine.

Everything is set up so thoughtfully, and you really get the feeling they’ve paid attention to every little detail!

The locker storage is conveniently located in two places:

one in the Base Camp and another just one floor up.

It's spacious and really convenient!

The operating hours for the lockers are from 6 AM to midnight,

so make sure to keep that in mind!

Finally, the Exit 2 at Yeouinaru Station, which leads to Yeouido Hangang Park,

seems to be designed as a great photo spot for runners!

It also appears to be a popular gathering place for various running crews.

The stairs are designed like a running track, and the changing colors of the lights made it fun to watch as well!

Today, I explored and experienced the Runner's Station at Yeouinaru Station in Seoul!

It was amazing to see such a top-tier running spot,

and I was truly impressed by how well-designed and thoughtful the facilities are.

I believe it's the perfect space for running, which is becoming an increasingly popular activity.

Whether you're running solo with music or joining a running crew after work,

this place is designed for anyone who loves to run.

It's a well-thought-out environment that allows anyone in the city to enjoy running around Yeouinaru Station.

Also, don’t miss the 2024 Seoul Design International Forum
