Since its conception, the competition winning design of DDP, commemorating Seoul as World Design Capital, has challenged norms architecturally and in its delivery. Inspired by movement and computational fluid dynamics, the design of the DDP tested the capabilities of the construction industry in Korea. Since its completion, DDP has formed an indelible place in the life of the city in centre of Seoul breaking records for visitor numbers. Craig Kiner Associate Director of Zaha Hadid Architects Craig Kiner, Associate Director at Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) in London, is a registered architect with over 30 years experience. Craig has a passion for urbanism and civic space, advocating for architecture’s transformative role through the positive interrelationship between architecture and the public realm. Project Director for the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul, South Korea, Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum in East Lansing, Michigan, and the Queen Mother Library in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, he has collaborated on numerous master planning, cultural , transport, residential and mixed-use projects including: KAPSARC, in Saudi Arabia, Masaryk Rail Station Development in Prague, Culenova Residential Development in Bratislava, Tallinn Port Masterplan, Estonia and Vasby Entre in Sweden. Prior to returning to ZHA, his previous experience at Jacobs, Urban Initiatives, KPF and Koetter, Kim focused on multi-disciplinary regeneration including Canary Wharf, Battersea Power Station, London, Sheffield City Centre Masterplan, Leeds, Bishopsgate Goods Yard, and Stratford Town Centre adjacent to the 2012 London Olympics. Craig holds a MArch in Urban Design from the GSD, Harvard and degrees in Architecture and Environmental Design. He has taught at Univ of Greenwich and Univ of East London, visiting juror and was the student liaison officer and student mentor at the GSD. |
